Hey! Thanks for stopping by. Below is a bit more about the comic. Skip it if you want, it's not very exciting.
Life in Existence begun life in May 2007 as a side project. I've been a fan of comic strips ever since I discovered "Calvin and Hobbes" about ten years ago. Then about two years ago, I started getting into webcomics, beginning with PvP, Penny Arcade, Sin Fest, and then others like Questionable Content, Ctrl-Alt-Del, PhD Comics and Sam and Fuzzy. Later on, I discovered a few other online comics that appealed to me immensely. Strips like Red Meat, Dinosaur Comics, and especially Death to the Extremist. It was this last comic that spurred me to create my own.
For some time already I have been toying with the idea of writing and drawing my own comic strip. But there was one problem: I can't draw to save my life. And so I never did start it. But when I came across Dinosaur Comics and Death to the Extremist, I found another way to write comics - minimalist style. Wikipedia calls them "constrained comics" but I think that term sounds ugly. In any case, I found the answer to my problem. I would just have to create one image, and them use it for every panel, every strip. Done. Occasionally, I would add in some other things if the strip called for it.
That was how Life in Existence started. It's meant to be a project that I would always work on, something separate from what I do in the day (I'm currently a student in University), and it was also something that I could channel those feelings, frustrations, and thoughts of mine that I could not express in daily life.
Of course for a while I fantasised about being popular and having lots of people read my strip, telling me how great it is and so on. But I guess fame and genius is not for everyone. So if you're reading this, I'm already grateful you're willing to spare some of your time for me. I hope you like the comics, and if you have anything you wish to say to me, just email: rex.oscen[at]gmail.com or leave a comment on any of the posts. And if you do like them, why not tell a friend about it? The rss feed is http://lie-comic.livejournal.com/data/rss. Alright, that's it. Ciao!
